Challenge Complete: Donate 100 Things

I told myself that I was going to take a bunch of stuff over to Goodwill and the women’s shelter months ago. I just kept putting it off and putting it off. Finally, this week I decided that enough was enough.

I planned to go through the house and find at least 100 things to donate. The number was scary, but it was actually really easy to get rid of 100 things. I managed to get well over 120! I’m very proud of myself.

Here’s the items that will be making their way out the door next week:

In that pile we have:
– A bunch of my clothes
– A bunch of Elliott’s clothes
– A bunch of Elliott’s toys
– Baby bibs/blankets
– Purse
– Some DVDs
– Christmas lights & ornaments
….and lots of other stuff we no longer need!

It feels so good to get rid of stuff that was just taking up space in our home and it’s going to feel even better when we bring it to the donation centers and give to the needy – and that’s what this time of year is all about right? Giving to others (although I encourage everyone to do that all year round, not just during the holidays).

Great idea! I just rounded up a bunch of stuff I planned on sticking on FreeCycle, but now I’m going to donate it to a local womens shelter. Much better idea. Most freecyclers around here just nab what they can to resell anyway!

aj – that’s great! it’s unfortunate that most people on freecycle take advantage of peoples’ generosity.
ashleigh – thank you 🙂 i feel great donating and i know it’s very much appreciated, especially at this time of year.
erica – doooo it! i can’t be bothered to sell stuff either, unless it’s a big ticket item.
tara – i know prices have gone up in thrift stores. so sucky 🙁 oh well, to be expected i guess!

as someone who works in social services, i am proud of you! there are soo many people out there that need this and i am sure you have made people very happy!

I totally need to clean out my closet and donate stuff. I have way to much junk that I dont need anymore and I cant be bothered to sell it or give it away. I’d much rather donate it.

    Rock on, girl!!

I have a stash in my shed–don’t drive so getting it where it needs to go proves difficult–but it will be done (and has been done before). However, I am saddened that the prices in my local “good will stores” have gone UP. I spose it’s understandable… but grrr, hehe! 🙂
